Entering Pop’s Pizza on Columbia Street in Cohoes, one is met with a instant feeling of warmth. And I’m not talking about the heat from the ovens. It’s the obvious family atmosphere that Pop’s is becoming known for.
For first time entrepreneurs Dan and Dave Jarosz, their business model was simple; keep it in the family and put a little love into it.
Their business is named after their grandfather, Aldolpho “Pop” Spadoni, a second generation Italian from Masten Avenue. ”Our grandfather instilled a work ethic in us,” said Dave Jarosz. “We would help him make tomato sauce from tomatoes he grew in his greenhouse. Pop was the inspiration for all of this.”
For the brothers, opening their own business is something they had always wanted to do. “We both said we ain’t getting any younger,” said Dan Jarosz. “Honestly, it’s fun for us. The family is here so it’s a great opportunity to get to see each other.”
Asked whether they had any regrets about opening a business in such a tough economy, they say that so far business has been good and steadily growing. “The biggest regret would have been never opening,” said Dan Jarosz.” Pop always said, “you gotta have patience.”
And don’t expect anything from a jar at Pop’s. The brothers say that everything is homemade, with many of the recipes being passed down over the generations. “Nothing good comes out of a jar,” they said.
An official ribbon cutting is scheduled for Monday September 9th at 3pm.

Consistently good food each and every time. Specialty pizzas were awesome and the wings were perfect. We'll be back, especially during football season!

Although Pop's is a newcomer to the Cohoes pizza scene, they are definitely a welcomed addition! Speaking on behalf of our family, we have quickly become huge fans of Pop's Pizza, and are slowing going through their menu options, trying something new each time. So far we really like the toppings on the regular pizzas...HUGE slices of pepperoni and the sausage is really fresh and flavorful. We also loved the Pop's Pie, which is kind of like a white pizza, but has ricotta, tomato, cheese and garlic...it has SO much flavor and an 8 cut is super filling! We also tried the fried dough and fried oreos and once we got over the calories, we absolutely loved them. We'll definitely be ordering them again. Either way, Pop's is a must try and like us, you'll soon be hooked!

...Terrific pizza place with fresh ingredients. You have to try the specialty "pops pizza" pie and the wings! Fried oreos are a favorite of ours too.
